It sure has been a long, long time since we've had anything new from Jonathan Pierce. He's been keeping busy working on one of those redecorating shows on Country Music Television. But he says he took several years off to do some hearty soul-searching.
He's emerged from that time with the long-awaited For You, thirteen tracks of crisp, soulful adult pop. Working for the first time with several mainstream heavy-hitting producers like Gary Miller, Graham Stack, Billy Man, and Steve Rosen, Pierce has crafted his most modern and best-sounding album to date. The production alternates between lush and slick, but it raises the bar over his past work by a high measure.
The thirteen songs are mostly grand encouragements dressed up in pop-sized garments. Sweeter sounds have never been heard from Pierce. He croons about the joy of life, the beauty of romantic love, he offers words of devotion to his family. Pierce proves on this album that he's definitely still got it.
