It's been two years since we Americans have been graced with new music from the wondrously talented Delirious, but it feels like longer than that, doesn't it? Maybe that's because we all know the band's native U.K. has had new music from the guys in-hand for over a year now, in the form of a disc called Audio Lessonover. Touch is the long-awaited, Americanized version of that same album, with some cosmetic changes, and the addition of a bonus disc with several live tracks, three videos, and other supplemental material.

Now liberated to its own record label here in the U.S. (just like they've always been in the U.K.), Furious? Records, Delirious is free to create and put out exactly the kind of record they want to release. For Touch, that translates into a real departure for the band: an examination of relationships, with both a sound and language that are very different than Mezzamorphis or Glo.

Touch feels like Delirious was tired of making all of the moody, production-heavy music that they've become known for, and just wanted to rock. With little more than the band's own instruments and Martin Smith's emotional vocals, it sounds like the guys decided to simply make a rock album. It's a scaled-back twist on Delirious, a bold attempt to do something different and keep their musical progression fresh and interesting.
