Collide represents a full-circle return for Skillet, in many ways. It re-teams the band with producer Paul Ebersold, who produced the group's first album, which featured a hard-edged rock sound, similar to that found on Collide. But don't read too much into that last statement -- Collide is very inclusive of the journey that got them to this point, a natural progression of the musical path that they have been on from the start. I think it's mere coincidence that they've found themselves now at a place somewhat similar to where they started.

But this is much heavier rock than those humble beginnings, not to mention much more textured and layered. Programmed loops, orchestration, and heavier-than-lead grunge guitars roar underneath Jon Cooper's gravelly screams.  Collide is an intriguing new twist for Skillet; it's the beginning of a new chapter. It's a natural progression, and I think it's more likely to attract more fans than it turns away.  Check out the clips and decide for yourself.
