The selected songs for inclusion on this year's WOW Hits collection read like a Who's Who of radio hits from the past year. All the various major labels working together to showcase their most popular songs from the last year, everyone getting along in harmony... It's like Christian Music's version of nonpartisan politics. (Okay, maybe not.)
Nowhere else will you find varied hits like MercyMe's "Spoken For" and Bebo Norman's "Great Light of the World" alongside ZOEgirl's "You Get Me" and 12 Stones' "The Way I Feel." Virtually everyone who's anyone in Christian Music is represented here, from Amy to Michael, from Steven to Jaci, Rebecca to Toby, and Stacie to Nichole. The bands and get plenty of coverage, too, including Newsboys, Avalon, Third Day, Jars, Caedmon's, Sixpence, and many more.
It's nice to see some of the smaller labels get a little facetime too, such as Tooth & Nail and BEC with Kutless and Jeremy Camp, respectively. The bonus tracks, traditionally used to introduce new artists, are predictably uninspired. But in the end, the WOW Hits collections are almost always must-haves; if you don't buy a lot of Christian Music, it's a great, inexpensive way to get caught up.
