After another foray into the world of straight-ahead modern rock, Delirious has once again returned to its worshipful roots on World Service. Fans of Cutting Edge and Glo will be pleased, while those who tended towards Mezzamorphis and Touch may lament the move. Modern worship is where Delirious cut their teeth, though, so it's no surprise to see them return to the well one more time. World Service takes Delirious back to what made them famous in the first place. But when it sounds this good you have to almost wish that they'd never leave again. There's not a lot of musical innovation here, but I have a feeling that their fans aren't going to mind that one bit with a plate full of original worship songs that are this tasty. This is a solid rock record, a great worship record, and should be the band's most successful project in years. Expect to be singing many of these songs in church almost immediately.
