It's pretty easy to market someone as a singer/songwriter. It's a lot harder to actually write and perform at a level high enough to earn the right to be called a true singer/songwriter. Teaming with industry veteran, Ed Cash (who's credits include Bebo Norman and Caedmon's Call), Dillon has presented us with one of the more poignant and addictive collection of songs of the year - and she is just fifteen years old!
Dillon also possesses a voice that would be the envy of many. Reminiscent of Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Aimee Mann, and even Sarah McLachlan at times, Dillon shows the ability and the range to be both fragile ("Revolutionaries") and forceful ("Great Big Mystery"), and at all times accessible and welcoming.
Starting at such a young age, one can't help but foresee great things in the future for Dillon, if she is given the chance. Teenagers take hard knocks from music critics, but Dillon has shown that she is a true singer/songwriter regardless of her youth. She has plenty of room to grow, but this is an excellent start and showcase for all of the raw ability that she has to offer. I
