Every once in awhile our neighbors to the north find a musical gem first. Alanis Morissette certainly made a big impact on the United States after first making her mark in Canada. In the Christian music scene, Carolyn Arends remains one of Canada's best exports, and others like Jill Paquette continue to prove that there's more to Canada than snow and ice hockey. It's time to introduce the next great Canadian import: Starfield.

Led by brothers Tim and Jon Neufeld, Starfield first made itself known on the In the Name of Love project (covering the song "40"), which was both a U2 tribute as well as a fundraiser for the African AIDS crisis. On this, their self-titled US debut, the band offers up more from the same musical vein. As it is, though, Starfield is a great debut. It stands as one of the more enjoyable modern worship albums of the year, thanks in large part to its all-original material. But beyond the worship scene, Starfield is just a great rock/pop album, full of hooky songs and raw potential for a promising future.
