DAY ONE may be a new name to your record stores, but they are in no way new to the music business. For the past 15 years, Day One has been performing across the country, for the first decade doing regular concerts and festivals, including being a part of the first ever GMA New Artist Competition (coming in right after Jars of Clay.) Then the band made an amazing leap into the convention circuit. Currently out an average of 43 weekends a year, the group hits large corporate conventions, playing a variety of music during the week, and ending with a worship concert toward the end of the events. This market has given the group a very large and very loyal following that often times knows nothing about the Christian market.
Now the group has teamed up with SHELTERecords to release their 8th CD (and their debut with national distribution) OBEDIENT. The songs tell the passion of the group - to love God and help those around you. While the topic seems basic, it truly shows the focus of this group, who are known just as much for their inner-city outreaches as they are for their music.
