Long a hard-working and promising indie band, Superchick has just released their national label debut Karaoke Superstars on the growing new Inpop record label, which was started by Peter Furler of the Newsboys. They join labelmates Beanbag, Rhubarb, and Phil Joel. The album is a peppy and energetic mix of girl-fronted pop rock with elements of ska, punk, and disco thrown in for punch. The lyrics are light-hearted for the most part (evidenced by the title of the album), and definitely youth-oriented. However, things get serious once in a while, and the band consistently communicates their need for God and determination to follow and live for Him no matter the cost. Good stuff!
