Though critics and fans alike have long hailed Nordeman for her thoughtful, intelligent, wondrously poetic lyrics that ponder the mysteries of life, Woven & Spun, her third and most highly-anticipated album, finds her digging into something altogether different: the aforementioned goodness of God. Woven & Spun may be more smile-inducing than what came before, but it is possibly her deepest, most gripping album yet. It seems that even the happy-go-lucky times of life are not enough to dull Nordeman's razor-sharp lyrical talents. I'd take the time to point out the best examples of this, but I find it difficult to highlight one song here at the expense of another -- every song is simply fantastic. Profound and deeply emotional, yet overflowing with true wonder over God's infinite grace. Much has been made of the terrific "I Am," but I was just as moved by "Holy," "Healed," "Even Then," "My Offering," and all the others.
Simply put: Woven & Spun is one of the best, most artistically beautiful albums of the year.
