Grits has always been known as one of the most forward-thinking rap groups in existence, always seeming to set new trends rather than follow them. Grits continues their sublime innovation on The Art of Translation, with hot new beats, insanely fast & intricate deliveries, and fresh production that mixes the best of the synth and the organic.
The thing that strikes me most about Translation is how the guys are unafraid to express their beliefs despite the ongoing mainstream interest that they've garnered since their last album. It must have been tempting to water down their music with stuff a little less preachy, but they are completely blatant about their beliefs here, refusing to back down, mentioning God by name in nearly every song. They shout out on some very hot-button issues as well, speaking their minds and convictions in admirable ways.
