The Gospel Music Association (GMA) has called on CeCe Winans and Steven Curtis Chapman, two of Christian and gospel music’s most beloved and celebrated artists, to host the 34th Annual Dove Awards to be held on Thursday, April 10 in Nashville, TN, announced John W. Styll, president of the Gospel Music Association today.
PAX-TV will once again be a broadcast partner for the Dove Awards, this year airing the awards show on the coveted Saturday evening prime time slot -- April 19 from 9:PM-11:PM EST/PST. The Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) will also air the show, resulting in the largest potential audience the Dove Awards has seen. TBN will televise the Dove Awards on Friday, April 25 at 10:PM EST/7:PM PST and Saturday, April 26 at 5:PM EST/2:PM PST.
Styll also announced that co-executive producers Matthew Crouch, president of Gener8Xion Entertainment, and Bob Cotton, president of GR8 Entertainment, have signed an exclusive multi-year broadcast licensing agreement with the GMA for Christian television via their MLBG Productions partnership, which assisted with funding for the 34th Annual Dove Awards.
Feed the Children (www.feedthechildren.org), the third largest U.S. charity involved in global aid, will be the official charity for the awards show for the third straight year.
“The GMA wanted this year’s Dove Awards to focus on the distinctiveness of Christian music and who better to help us than CeCe and Steven. These two artists represent the best in Christian music, for both their commercial success and their artistic integrity, and will make terrific hosts for an evening of entertainment and inspiration. We welcome back PAX-TV and welcome TBN as our broadcast partners and plan to produce for them a show that their audiences will enjoy,” said Styll.
In other announcements related to the Dove Awards, the GMA said that it will partner with StarOne Networks to produce a live pay-per-view Webcast. Sponsored by LifeWay Christian Stores, Dove Awards Live will feature live award-to-award coverage including the pre-telecast presentation and behind the scenes footage. Information about the Webcast can be found at www.doveawardslive.com.
The 34th annual Dove Awards will be made available to radio, live via satellite. Nashville-based Huntsman Entertainment will produce and distribute the 34th annual Dove Awards broadcast. The radio show will feature the live awards show as well as exclusive radio content during spot breaks and post-event coverage.
