Hangnail reports via its email newsletter that the band is
officially calling it quits. Writes band member Mike Middleton:
There are multiple reasons for the band breaking up, but the main issue is
that the members of the band are moving in different directions with their
lives, their music, and their spirituality. This is not a subtle
development. This is something that the band has been discussing for at
least the last four months and something that has been talked about long
before. Different members have different feelings about the whole
situation, and I'm sure that different members would have different things to
say about why its happening. But the important thing is that it is a mutual
decision and friendships are still intact. Although its the right decision
for this band at this time, it's kind of unfortunate timing with the release of
Transparent looming in the near future. This record is by far the
best thing we have done musically and lyrically, and unfortunately, it might be
the album that gets least heard.
Hangnail will be performing its final concert date at Cornerstone
2003.
