The group Evanescence won New Artist of the Year and best hard rock performance. Beyonce Knowles won five awards, Coldplay won Record of the Year (for "Clocks"), Outkast won Album of the Year (for Speakerboxxx/The Love Below) and Luther Vandross and Richard Marx took home Song of the Year (for "Dance With My Father"). Robert Randolph and the Family Band, who were nominated in the Rock Gospel category, was a part of the show-stopping church of funk segment.
