Vertical Vibe recording artist Russ Lee departs for Iraq today for an 11-day
visit with troops stationed with the United States Army's 101st Airborne
Division from Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He will travel throughout the
country and is slated to present concerts in the cities of Balad, Mosul and
Baghdad (itinerary subject to change), using one of two mobile sound systems
donated at cost to the U.S. Army by Peavey Electronics. Lee will be
bringing the message of Christ to armed forces personnel in Iraq during the
Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
"The goal is for me to make contact with the troops, and to let them know
there is a grateful nation of people at home who are thankful for their
sacrifice," said Lee. "I want to be able to shake their hands, look them in the
eye and assure them that an entire family of Christian believers hold them close
to their hearts and lift them up in prayer. My prayer is that a song or a
word spoken when Iım in Iraq will remind our troops that Godıs love is strong
and faithful. He is always there for them to call on."
Lee made a similar trip to Iraq in the Fall of 2003, upon an invitation from
the 101st Airborne Division. Following his latest visit, Lee will return
to the United States on November 14.
Lee recently formed Vertical Vibe Records and is currently preparing for the
release of Hear Those Bells, his first Christmas recording, on November 9.
He will also headline the multi-city "A Night Of Christmas" Tour in November and
December.
