"During times like these," says Fred Hammond, "whatever builds hope, whatever builds faith, and whatever brings life -- we need to speak those things." And his new Verity project, set for a street date of September 10, does just that.
Without a doubt, Speak Those Things has big shoes to fill. Since 1995, the first four projects featuring Fred Hammond and his vocal group Radical For Christ, have been phenomenal sales successes, changing the dynamic of church worship across the globe. Pages of Life: Chapters I and II topped every major sales chart and held the #1 position on the Billboard Magazine Gospel Charts for 15 consecutive weeks. Likewise, Spirit of David held tight in the top 3 of the Billboard sales charts for 18 weeks.
Hammond has amassed a trophy room full of awards and accolades for his efforts as a songwriter, musician, singer, and producer. He has production credits with artists ranging from Yolanda Adams to CeCe Winans to Touched By An Angel star Della Reese. Hammond has collectively sold over 3 million records to date, and has taken on the challenge of developing the careers of other artists by starting his own record label -- F. Hammond Music -- which has already completed projects for Joann Rosario and The Singletons. Just this year, Hammond's Christmas album, Just Remember, was named Urban Album of the Year at the 33rd Annual Dove Awards ceremony.
Hammond first entered gospel music as the founder and front man for Commissioned, one of the most awarded and innovative gospel/r&b vocal groups in the history of gospel music. Hammond's talents have landed him in two theatrical productions, more than eleven commercials including national tv and radio spots for the Chrysler/Dodge Corporation, Western Union, and Domino's Pizza, and garnered him television appearances on The Parkers, a Warner Brothers channel sitcom, as well as a pay-per-view special featuring Hammond and Radical For Christ performing songs from Purpose By Design live. James Brown had to have Hammond at his birthday bash, and the Michigan House of Representatives has honored Hammond for his positive influence on young people.
With all these accomplishments, Speak Those Things is anything but a "resting on laurels" project. Hammond continues to push the envelope of combining intense r&b riffs with contemporary praise and worship. Verity plans extensive consumer advertising as well as in-store promotions and merchandising to promote Speak Those Things.
