Following the successful June release of Shane Barnard and Shane Everett's debut album Psalms, which sold over 5000 copies in its first week, Inpop Records is gearing up for its biggest fall schedule ever.
Over the course of the next several months, Inpop will release projects from Elevate Records' new artist Charmaine, Festival Con Dios, Superchick, Phil Joel, Tree63, Aquire the Fire, and Go Fish.
"This will be our busiest fall so far because we have a variety of sophomore releases coming out," says Steve Ford, director of marketing at Inpop. "After spending the last couple of years introducing new artists into the marketplace, it's fun to be able to strategize the next steps of their recording careers. We're also quite excited to be teaming up with Elevate Records for Charmaine's first project."
AUGUST
Charmaine's All About Jesus debuts on August 13. This pop-infused, yet lyrically vertical album is filled with praise for the Lord set to the fresh production sounds of Otto Price (Sonicflood) and Jeremy Bose (Rebecca St. James, Jaci Velasquez). Charmaine began her singing career as part of her family's traveling vocal group, Endless Praise, based out of Australia. Recently, she's toured with Rebecca St. James as a background vocalist for the Wait For Me and Wait For Me Encore tours, and will continue to travel with her this fall.
The second Festival Con Dios soundtrack releases on August 27. The compilation will feature a variety of artists found on the line up, including tour headliners MercyMe, tobyMac, and Audio Adrenaline. The fall leg of Festival Con Dios begins on September 13 and covers almost forty cities in its two month run. Experienced Con Dios emcee and Inpop artist/comedian Bob Smiley, whose album I've Got A Funny Feeling About This debuted in May, will be the featured host for the tour.
OCTOBER
Newsboys bassist Phil Joel's sophomore album, Bring It On, goes public on September 24. Produced by Joe Baldridge (Jewel, Self, Newsboys), Joel's fresh vocals and creative lyrics are taking a new direction that is sure to please fans, both current and future. Joel made an impressive solo debut in the summer of 2000 with the release of God Is Watching Over You on Inpop. After a whirlwind couple of years, including the birth of his first child, daughter Phynley, Phil is creating what he calls a "coming of age record." Because God has been moving him in so many ways, he has in turn felt moved to deliberately express it all on a record.
"This record will be challenging for those who are truly passionate about seeking the Lord's will in their lives," Joel says, "because I have been very challenged -- challenged by God through my daughter to understand what love for a child is really about, what humanity is all about. God has pushed me to examine myself and what sort of man she is going to see in me."
Critically acclaimed and Dove nominated band Superchick is set to unveil its newest record, Last One Picked, on October 8. The album combines their youthful energy and exuberance with up-to-the-minute sounds, delivering a sonic explosion full of hooky pop/punk songs that confront issues assaulting society today. Superchick's music has been featured on over 30 soundtracks for several big movies (Legally Blonde, The Glass House, etc), as well as the Disney Channel, ABC's Alias, ESPN, The WB, and E! News Daily, and has music currently in rotation in Delia's stores nationwide. They have established a loyal and expanding fan base through continuous touring and media exposure. In the fall they'll be seen on the Thrive Tour with Newsboys and ZOEgirl.
Ford says, "It is so important when a record releases to have the artist on the road supporting their new release, so it's incredible to have both Superchick and Phil out on the Thrive Tour, and Tree63 on the Festival Con Dios lineup."
South African-based modern rock worship band Tree63 is currently in the studio working on their October 22 release, The Life and Times of Absolute Truth. With production by Nik Fairclough and lead singer John Ellis, the Dove Award winning group will be continuing their signature sound that combines vertical lyrics with modern rock at its finest. Look for Tree63 on the Festival Con Dios fall tour.
Partnering with Teen Mania Ministries, Inpop will release its second Acquire the Fire soundtrack, Live the Difference on October 22. The compilation project will reflect the worship experience found at the conferences.
DECEMBER
Ending the year will be the second release from pop trio Go Fish, which comes out on December 24. The Minneapolis-based group, known for their skillful blending of instruments and signature vocal harmonies, will be following up to their first album, Infectious, which included their hit song "You're My Little Girl." This past spring, they joined Rebecca St. James on her Wait For Me Encore Tour that included Ginny Owens and Fusebox.
