Jason Upton recently participated in The Call-NYC, a gathering encouraging peace and healing for our nation.
The one-day solemn gathering of prayer and fasting for the nation brought together nearly 100,000 people of different denominations to New York's Flushing Meadows-Corona Park -- the 1,255 acre site of the 1939-40 and 1964-65 World's Fairs. From dawn to dusk, young and old as well as various races joined spiritual leaders from around the nation as they prayed for school campuses, generational reconciliation, Jewish/Christian reconciliation, prayer for the peace of Jerusalem, and healing for New York City post-9/11. The Call-NYC was reported to be the single largest Christian gathering in the history of Queens.
Upton helped lead and facilitate the event by ushering in thousands of America's youth for a powerful time of worship. Key speakers and musicians that joined Upton included Pat Robertson, The 700 Club; Lou Engle, founder of The Call, and Matt Redman, among others. Political figures such as Israeli Ambassador Alon Pinkas, and former Mayor of Jersey City, Bret Schundler were also present in support of the event.
"It's always incredible to see kids getting together in prayer and fasting as they worship the Lord," Upton said. "The Call was a testimony to know that the youth of today don't just want to hear another song or sermon -- they really mean business with God."
A worship leader that has ministered all over the country and the world, Upton's passion is to be a voice for this generation as a prophet and minister who reflects upon God's inspiration as he shares his testimony with those around him.
The Call began as a one-time gathering in Washington, D.C. on September 2, 2000 and continues to reach various cities, nations and regional areas focusing on repentance, reconciliation and revival. The event draws thousands upon thousands of people for a time of prayer, fasting and worship for the nation. The Call will be gearing up for crusades in Brazil and England later this year.
