Recently formed Christian label Doxology Records announces the formation of a Church Advisory Board. Comprised of 16 music ministers from churches of various denominations across the U.S., the board will advise the label in unique and practical ways to aid them in their mission to create music and music resources for the contemporary church.
Headed by Dennis Worley, Music and Worship Minister at Brentwood Baptist Church in the Nashville, Tennessee, area, the board includes the following members:

"We are very thankful to these music ministers who have agreed assist us in our mission," says Dan Posthuma, president of Doxology Records. "At Doxology, we are committed to finding artists and songs that churches will use to become a part of the fabric of their worship. We will rely heavily on these members to keep us aware of the changing face of the church, and how we can best serve them and other churches across the country."
Doxology board member Bill Gaither, who himself has penned songs now featured in hymnals from various denominations, agrees. "There's a real need to feed the church body itself, and how better to feed this hunger for new songs than through working with churches themselves to identify and nourish that need? We all remember songs we sang in church as children that have now ingrained themselves in our lives. It is my hope that the music created through Doxology will have the opportunity to do that same thing."
In order to gain a balanced perspective of the church at large, participating members represent various regions, styles, and denominations. These music ministers will be called upon to advise the label about trends as well as needs of the church, and to serve as a sounding board for potential new artists and releases.
One such music minister is Hanz Ives, Music Minister at Harvest Christian Fellowship. "It's amazingly refreshing to see a record label like Doxology appear on the scene whose core philosophy is to provide resources that can make an immediate impact on the lives of the people we minister to," he stated from his church in Riverside, California. "It's very encouraging to see that they are interested in input from those of us who serve at a grass-roots level. I'm honored to be a part of such an endeavor."
