As a companion piece to Max Lucado's latest book, the disc is a collection of hymns selected by Lucado himself, performed by well-known artists such as
Watermark, Third Day, Michael W. Smith, Ginny Owens, Selah, Shane Barnard & Shane Everet, and many more . Producer John Andrew Schreiner (best known for his work with Fernando Ortega) probably deserves the majority of the credit for crafting an album that is rich and lush in its respect to these great old songs, yet surprisingly warm and modern in sound.
Next Door Savior, though it's meant to accompany Max Lucado's book of the same name, is in its own right a striking collection of talented vocalists and truly great songs of the church. It's one of the best multi-artist albums of the year.
